COIL EFFICIENCY INSPECTIONS
Keep the coil cooling.

Commonly called evaporator coils, these devices help your air conditioner do its job by condensing water vapor, as part of a condensing unit, after it’s been through your AC’s compressor. Think of it like a cold pop that collects condensation from the air. Evaporator coils help keep the relative humidity of your home at a reasonable and comfortable level. This excess water is then drained down the pipes.

Obviously, if your coil isn’t operating efficiently, your home can become muggy and uncomfortable.

At Al’s, we’ll run tests to figure out your coil’s efficiency and take the steps to get it back in order. If your coil is getting pretty old or has already called it quits, we recommend replacing both the coil and the condensing unit.

Here are some of reasons why:

  • Older evaporator coils aren’t very compatible with new condensing units.
  • If your compressor is newer than your coil and it fails, the old coil can sometimes be the culprit. Unfortunately, this voids the warranty of most compressor manufacturers.
  • If you replace part of the equipment and keep an old coil, you’re not doing yourself any favors in saving money on electrical operating costs.
  • A lot of older evaporator coils have drain pans that can rust or break over time, damaging the furnace and leading to an early demise.
